Whirlpool State Park is too cool of a name to just drive by it. The park defied my expectation and was my favorite of the day by far.
What causes the whirlpools, you might wonder? I definitely did, and I'm just going to direct you to the i
nformation on St. David's Gorge to explain it. The most interesting part to me was probably the explanation of the water color. A combination of algae and other single and multi-cellular organisms, dissolved minerals, and highly oxygenated water allow for the reflection of the brilliant aquamarine color I tried to articulate in my
Devil's Hole post.
I'm going to let the video speak for itself here. It was truly mesmerizing.
For more exicting off-beat trip highlights, you'll have to keep coming back. :)
