Decisions, Decisions
| Rain running down the windshield of the car somewhere in the desert southwest. |
One of the most challenging parts of living a nomadic life is having to make a ridiculous number of decisions every day. There is the everyday stuff like when I had a house such as:
- Should I go grocery shopping?
- Eating out or cooking at home?
- Do I really want to "people" today?
And then there are road life decisions:
- Where am I going to sleep tomorrow?
- Will there be other dogs in the vicinity?
- What will the cell signal be like?
- If it is sunny for only two hours, can I recharge the solar generator enough to stay here?
Right now, I am working my way through figuring out where to go next. I could go northwest and get to experience incredible astronomy (and exceptionally cold days/nights). I could go due south and deal with crowds and potentially washed out areas from the storm that is about to come through. I could go east and delve into human and natural history. Snow or rain? Sand or soil?
Per the recommendations of experienced campers, I do think my best bet is to go someplace and stay for a week to ten days. That puts the pressure on to find a spot worthy of ten days. It's also baffling to me how frequently our campsites have been rained on in the desert.
